As the name suggests, this species is from the Himalayas. On tall stems the impressive 60 cm. long spire has masses of white flowers, looking particularly effective when planted against a dark background.
The ‘Foxtail Lilies’ are imposing, exotic looking plants originating from Turkey and eastwards to the Himalayas and China, growing on stony hillsides, adapting well where sun and good drainage can be provided. When planting the central bud should just be above the soil level, cover with sand or grit to aid winter drainage and shelter from spring frost.
