Hippeastrum papilio 'Butterfly'
Quite different from the well-known ‘Large Flowered Hybrids’. The colour and shape of these flowers remind one of an exotic butterfly. The colour is best described as greenish-white with chestnut brown to carmine red veins and stamens. Like a Clivia the bulbs are grown continuously in the same pot, which can be placed on the patio in summer. Side bulbs are produced and an increasing number of flowers is the result. May take a year to establish before flowering.
